Berrima District Rescue Squad

You could be a bushwalker lying badly injured at the bottom of a fifty metre cliff ... an unconscious driver trapped after a head-on collision ... a caver trapped inside a space barely bigger than a wombat hole. These are just some of the scenarios faced by members of the Berrima District Rescue Squad.

We're trained, committed, professional

and we're volunteers.

Day and night for over 30 years, the Berrima District Rescue Squad has been serving the Wingecarribee Shire.

The Squad is the accredited primary rescue response unit for the Southern Highlands, supporting local Police and Ambulance in all types of rescue operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week. To provide this valuable service requires specialised equipment and training with minimal government or corporate support.

The BDRS has a team of highly-trained volunteer operators who are part of the Squad's Road Crew. All members of the Crew must be qualified by the NSW State Rescue Board and they undertake rigorous weekly training to maintain the high standards required by the Board.

Our members are volunteers, giving their time in the service of their community. We respond to emergencies via a 24/7 pager system. Whatever the time, wherever they are, we respond to the request for potentially lifesaving assistance as quickly as possible.
